2024 Communications Internship Information
The Mexican American School Boards Association (MASBA) is excited to launch its first ever Communications Internship! The Communications Internship is a 10-month program dedicated to advancing MASBA’s mission through increased community engagement.
The internship will run from March 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024. The communications intern will be expected to commit 7 hours a week, with some flexibility. Program pay is $6,000.

Communications Internship Responsibilities
- Compose draft social media posts, maintaining consistency in messaging and engaging content for online platforms.
- Create and draft general membership newsletters, ensuring content is informative, engaging, and aligns with the organization’s communication strategy.
- Assist in the implementation of communications campaigns pertaining to events and programming, ensuring cohesive messaging and effective promotion.
- Contribute to the compilation of research and resources for the Learning Community Newsletter, ensuring the delivery of valuable and informative content to the audience.
- Provide assistance in creating visual content, graphics, and other design elements for communication materials.
- Support organizational needs through collaborative work events.

2024 Events Fellowship Information
The Mexican American School Boards Association (MASBA) is excited to launch its first ever Events Fellowship! The Events Fellowship is a 10-month program committed to supporting the needs of school board trustees through effective educational programming.
Events Fellowship Responsibilities
- Assist in the coordination and execution of MASBA events, including the MASBA conference, partner engagement events, community outreach, and more.
- Manage and organize event finances to ensure transparency.
- Oversee event registration processes, including attendee RSVP tracking and payment.
- Manage on-site logistics during events, including setup, registration, and coordination of volunteers.
- Screen questions from sponsors, partners and membership regarding events registration and payments.
- Responsible for event wrap-up and completion of related paperwork.
- Support organizational needs through collaborative work events.

Policy Fellowship
The Mexican American School Boards Association (MASBA) launched the organization’s first policy fellowship in 2022. The MASBA Policy Fellowship is a one-year program dedicated to advancing awareness and advocacy on education issues impacting the Latina/o/x community.
The policy fellowship program has two positions. One position, that is centrally focused on monitoring and engaging the Texas Legislature and the other the State Board of Education.
